The best bicycle mechanic in Kenya
Without meaning to cast aspersions on any of the other hardworking and competent mechanics in Kenya, Nixon Sewe undoubtedly deserves this accolade.
Having attended every UCI bike mechanic course he possibly could, he's also got lots of real-world experience. Nixon has travelled with the team to dozens of races all over Africa, Asia and Europe, often needing to improvise with severely limited resources.
Nixon started off as a cyclist before transitioning to becoming the team mechanic 6 years ago.
He can work with everything from an unusable Black Mamba to the latest new fangled carbon number with the latest precision-engineered Shimano electronic drivetrain. That's versatility.
His ambition? "The Tour de France, bwana. The Tour de France."
